Teach Your Kiddos (accessible at https://teachyourkiddos.com) is committed to protecting the privacy of parents, educators, and the young children who use our platform under adult supervision. This Privacy Policy details the types of information we collect, how it is used, and how we safeguard it in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), applicable global privacy frameworks, and the Google API Services User Data Policy.

2. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Teach Your Kiddos is an educational learning companion designed for children aged 3 to 12. Because of our audience, we adhere to strict children's privacy principles:

• Parental/Adult Account Ownership: Only parents, legal guardians, or educators aged 18 or older may register accounts, authorize access, or initiate subscriptions.
• No Direct Personal Data Collection from Children: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, location data, or social identifiers directly from children.
• Child Profile Settings: Parents may optionally specify a first name or nickname and age (e.g., 3–12) within Settings. This information is used solely on-device and within AI generation prompts to calibrate vocabulary level, topic themes, and reading difficulty.
• No Advertising or Behavioral Tracking: We do not display third-party advertisements or engage in behavioral advertising directed at children.

3. Google User Data & Google Drive Permissions

Teach Your Kiddos offers Google Sign-In and Google Drive integration to allow parents to store, synchronize, and back up their children's generated storybooks securely.

A. Permissions Requested

We request the narrowest possible permission scope to fulfill our core storybook backup functionality:

• https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file: Allows the application to create, view, edit, and delete only the specific files and folders created by or opened with Teach Your Kiddos. This permission does not grant Teach Your Kiddos access to any other documents, photos, or files in your Google Drive.

B. How Google User Data Is Used

• File Storage & Backup: To save generated storybooks as JSON documents inside a dedicated "Teach Your Kiddos Stories" folder in your Google Drive so parents retain lifetime ownership of their family's stories.
• Authentication & Subscription Sync: Your Google user identifier and email address are used to verify parent identity, maintain trial status, and synchronize story progress across devices.

C. Limited Use Affirmations

• We do not sell Google user data to any third party.
• We do not use Google user data for advertising, marketing, or retargeting.
• We do not use or transfer Google user data to serve advertisements, including personalized, re-targeted, or interest-based advertising.
• We do not permit humans to read your Google user data unless: (1) we have obtained your explicit permission for a specific issue; (2) it is necessary for security purposes (such as investigating a bug or abuse); (3) it is required to comply with applicable law; or (4) the data is aggregated and anonymized for internal system operations.

4. Information We Collect

A. Information Provided by Parents

• Account Credentials: Name and email address received during Google authentication.
• Preferences & Settings: Child age setting (3–12), optional child first name, preferred theme mode, and reading speed preferences.
• Billing Information: Payment transactions are handled directly through Google Pay and Stripe. Teach Your Kiddos does not store complete credit card or debit card numbers on its servers.

B. Automatically Collected Information

• Learning Progress & Quiz Metrics: Quiz attempts, scores, and completion timestamps to display the child's learning progress in the Progress Dashboard.
• Technical Diagnostics: Error logs and basic device/browser types to ensure application stability and offline PWA functionality.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data only for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you with our educational service.

• Local Deletion: Parents may delete any saved storybook at any time directly through the in-app Library tab.
• Google Drive Removal: Parents can delete the "Teach Your Kiddos Stories" folder or disconnect the app at any time via Google Account Security Permissions.
• Complete Account Deletion: Parents may request permanent deletion of all account data and records by emailing hemanthnarayanan123@gmail.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request". Requests are fulfilled within thirty (30) days.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard encryption protocols (HTTPS/TLS) for data in transit and secure Firestore and Google Drive APIs for data at rest. Access tokens are stored securely in browser storage and are never exposed to unauthorized parties.

7. Third-Party Service Providers

We partner with select reputable service providers to deliver our educational experience:

• Google Cloud Platform & Firebase: For identity verification and database operations.
• Google Gemini API: For age-adapted storybook generation. Content generation requests contain only age parameters and reading prompts; no personal user files or Google Drive contents are sent to or stored by the model.
• Stripe & Google Pay: For secure, PCI-compliant subscription processing.
